Viola Smoot

Viola Claudine Smoot, age 97, passed away on June 3, 2024 at Homewood Retirement Village.

Born June 19, 1926, in Augusta, WV, to Dawson J. and Wilda V. Shanholtz.

She was a homemaker. She is survived by son, Russell Smoot (Debra); daughters, Brenda Hose (Floyd), Darlene Chaney (John), and Susan Bowman; 8 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild, sister, Hazel Iser and brother-in-law; Glenn Smoot.

She is preceded in death by son, Gary L. Smoot; husband, Russell R. Smoot; parents, Wilda and Dawson Shanholtz; sisters, June Smoot, Mildred Belt; and brother, Junior Shanholtz.

A funeral service will be held Thursday, June 6, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. with a visitation one hour prior at Rest Haven Funeral Home, 1601 Pennsylvania Avenue, Hagerstown, MD 21742.
