Wayne Hamilton Deibert, 64, of Hagerstown, Maryland and formerly Silver Spring, Maryland, went home to be with the Lord on April 19, 2023, at Doey’s House.
Born on October 14, 1958, in Silver Spring, he was the son of Janet Eileen (Shilling) Deibert and the late Charles Nelson Deibert. Wayne brought a beautiful light to this world. He proudly graduated from the special education program in Silver Spring in 1979. Upon moving to Washington County, he became a longtime member of the Bethel United Methodist Church in Chewsville. In 1992 he began residing with the ARC program of Washington County. He joyfully came home with his mother each weekend and holiday to enjoy special time with his family and attend church with his prized bible in hand. Often, he could be seen wearing one of his numerous medals from the Special Olympics and enjoyed bowling and swimming. His joy and zeal for life was a gift to everyone he met.
In addition to his beloved mother Janet of Boonsboro, Maryland; he is survived by his brother, Craig Deibert of Delmar, Delaware and his twin sister Susan Bashore and her husband Scott of Fairfax, Virginia. Wayne is survived by his nephew Zachary and niece Gretchen Bashore; numerous cousins, extended family and dozens of friends and caregivers that he too considered his family.
The family will celebrate his life with a funeral service held on Monday, April 24, 2023 at 11am at Bethel United Methodist Church, 21006 Twin Springs Drive, Smithsburg, Maryland 21783. The family will receive friends for viewing, one hour prior at the church. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery in Hagerstown.
