William Warren "Pepe" Renner, 75, of Hagerstown, died Tuesday, March 20, 2012, at his home.
Born Sept. 23, 1936, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Harry David Renner and Marie Virginia (Swain) Lorshbaugh.
He was a 1954 graduate of Hagerstown High School.
Pepe was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in Okinawa.
He retired from Jamison Door Co. as a carpenter. After retirement, he went on to work at the Hagerstown YMCA in the weight room.
He was a member of John Wesley United Methodist Church in Hagerstown, and a member of AMVETS Post 10 and Funkstown American Legion Post 211.
Pepe was an avid sports fan. He managed an American Little League team for more than five years. In his youth, he was active in sports, such as softball and basketball.
Surviving him is a son, Joseph Renner of Chester Springs, Pa.; two sisters, Greta M. DeBow and husband, Robert, and Linda Y. Kershner; three brothers, Harry L. Renner and wife, Mary, Robert D. Lorshbaugh and wife, Cindy, and Roy L. Lorshbaugh, all of Hagerstown; two grandchildren, Christine Renner of Winchester, Va., and Luke Renner of Chester Springs; a daughter-in-law, Mary Renner of Hagerstown; and his loving companion, Carole L. Trumpower, also of Hagerstown.
In addition to his parents, William was preceded in death by a son, William Charles Renner, who died in June 2011.
A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, March 23, 2012, at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown, with the Rev. Richard Jewell officiating. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery with military honors being accorded by the Maryland National Guard, AMVETS and the Antietam Detachment Marine Corps Honor Guards.
Friends will be received one hour before the service at the funeral home.
